Best Picture Surprise

In a twist that few American Ipsos iSay members saw coming, Anora took home the Oscar for Best Picture. While Wicked led our predictions (41%), Anora swooped in to capture the film industry's highest honor. Only 4% of our Ipsos iSay community predicted this win, proving that the Academy still knows how to surprise us all!

Best Actor and Best Actress Wins

Adrien Brody wowed audiences with his performance in The Brutalist and clinched the Oscar for Best Actor. Although Timothée Chalamet in A Complete Unknown indeed held a slight edge (28%) among Ipsos iSay voters, Adrien Brody was still a favorite among our community, receiving a quarter of the predictions (25%).

The Best Actress category delivered one of the night's biggest surprises with Mikey Madison taking home the award for her role in Anora. This win was quite a surprise to the Ipsos iSay community, as only 4% had predicted her victory. Cynthia Erivo in Wicked was our community's frontrunner with nearly half (48%) guessing she’d be the winner. However, Madison's performance clearly resonated with the Academy voters.

Supporting Roles Shake-Up

In the Best Supporting Actor category, Kieran Culkin emerged victorious for his role in A Real Pain. Among Ipsos iSay voters, this race was split between Culkin (22%), Edward Norton in A Complete Unknown (30%), and Jeremy Strong in The Apprentice (25%).

Meanwhile, the Best Supporting Actress award went to Zoe Saldaña for her performance in Emilia Pérez. Saldaña’s win likely came as a surprise to many Ipsos iSay community members, as Ariana Grande had been our predictors’ clear favorite with a majority of the votes (60%). Only 15% of Ipsos iSay visitors anticipated the real result.
