Recently, Ipsos iSay members shared their thoughts in response to a series of "Question of the Day", offering insights into topics ranging from digital detox habits to podcast preferences. While these answers don’t represent the wider population, they provide an interesting snapshot of the opinions and behaviors of those who participated. Here’s a quick overview:
Digital Detox: A Common Habit or a Rare One?
When it comes to digital detoxing in 2025, responses were mixed. 11.3% of people say it’s a regular part of their routine, while 29.3% make time for it occasionally. However, 34.1% reported that they never disconnect, and 25.2% said it’s something they rarely do.
Social Interactions: Making Time for Connection
As for socializing, 45.5% of respondents said they make time for it every day, and 27.5% do so several times a week. On the flip side, 14.6% said they rarely socialize.
Genetic Editing in Agriculture: Risk vs. Reward?
In the debate over genetic editing in agriculture, 37.2% of participants are in favor, but with regulations in place. Another 17.9% fully support technology, while 16% think it’s too risky, and 15.2% believe it should be banned.
High-Speed Internet: Should It Be Basic Utility?
A strong majority (78.6%) think high-speed internet should be considered a basic utility, with 11.7% believing it should be prioritized in underserved areas.
Back-to-School Memories
Reflecting on the back-to-school season, 34% of people said picking out new supplies was the highlight, while another 34% fondly remembered the summer break. 21.4% looked forward to a fresh start each year, and 10.3% appreciated getting back into a routine.
Helping Kids Get Ready for School
When it comes to preparing kids for school, 39.9% of parents say they do a little bit of everything—talking about expectations, shopping for supplies, and setting routines. Some focus more on emotional support, while others let kids enjoy the final days of their holidays.
What Gets Kids Excited About Going Back to School?
For kids, seeing their friends again is the biggest excitement (68%), followed by the opportunity to learn new things (17.1%) and new supplies (9.1%).
Podcast Listening Habits
Podcasts are clearly popular, with 16.7% of people tuning in daily and 20.7% listening a few times a week. However, 24.2% of respondents said they never listen to podcasts.
Favorite Podcast Genres
The most popular podcast genre is true crime (15.5%), followed by comedy (11.4%) and news/politics (10.4%). Notably, 30.2% of people don’t listen to podcasts at all.
Why Do People Stop Listening to Podcasts?
The main reason people stop listening to podcasts is boring content (41.3%), followed by too many ads (24.5%) and an annoying host (16.5%).
