Unveiling Global Sentiments on AI: Understanding and Attitudes

Artificial Intelligence (AI) remains a topic of global intrigue, with two-thirds (67%) of adults in 32 countries reporting a solid grasp of its concepts. There is a noticeable generational gap in AI knowledge, with younger demographics such as Gen Z and Millennials displaying higher awareness compared to Baby Boomers.

Across regions, self-reported familiarity with AI applications shows considerable diversity. Asian countries lead in AI awareness, reflecting widespread optimism about its potential benefits. Attitudes towards AI also vary widely on a global scale. While 50% of respondents express nervousness about AI, 53% report excitement. However, regional contrasts are evident. Asian nations, particularly Indonesia and Thailand, exhibit significant enthusiasm for AI-driven innovations, with a majority agreeing that AI brings more benefits than drawbacks. This positive outlook underscores a strong belief in AI's transformative capabilities across various sectors.

Overall, the Ipsos study provides a comprehensive view of global attitudes towards AI, emphasizing regional nuances in awareness, perceptions, and attitudes. While Asia embraces AI with enthusiasm and optimism for its potential benefits, other regions navigate a landscape of cautious optimism and deliberation regarding AI's role in shaping the future.
