Life doesn’t follow one timeline. Some reach big milestones early, others a little later, and that’s perfectly fine. Whether you’re building, growing or discovering new paths, every chapter has meaning. Your perspective matters, no matter what age you’re at.
1. The Prime of Life: Ages 28–35
Across 32 countries, adults see their late 20s to mid-30s as the prime years for major milestones, like getting married, buying a first home, or having children. These years are often viewed as the best timing for building both family and financial stability.
2. Peak Professional Age
Globally, people believe the ideal age to excel in one’s profession is often in the late 30s to early 40s. These years are seen as a balance point, with enough experience to perform at a high level, yet still full of energy and drive to achieve even more.
3. Not Everyone Looks Forward to Old Age
More than half (57%) of global adults say they are not looking forward to old age, compared to 38% who are. But there’s a twist, younger people, those with higher incomes, and those with higher education levels tend to be more positive about the years ahead.
4. Old Age Starts at… 66?
Today, the perception of “old age” begins at 66. With life expectancy averaging 78 years, that leaves about 12 years to experience what they consider old age. This reflects the perception that ageing begins in a later chapter of life and takes up less of it than most would imagine.
